The Nottinghamshire Primary and Secondary Schools Relay Challenge is new for 2006. The goals of the event are:
- To find the fastest school in Nottinghamshire
- To talent spot for sports stars of the future
- To promote Health and Fitness
- To encourage teamwork
Who is eligible?
All primary and secondary schools in Nottinghamshire.
The teams
Each primary school team will be made up of 6 – either all boys or all girls.
2 runners will be Under 9, 2 Under 10 and 2 Under 11 as of 1st September 2005.
Each secondary school team will be made up of 12 – either all boys or all girls.
2 runners will be U12, 2 x U13, 2 x U14’s, 2 x U15’s, 2 x U16 and 2 x U17.
The Competition
Primary schools will run a total of 480 metres (80 metres per runner).
Secondary schools will run a total of 960 metres (80 metres per runner).
The Prizes
- The first 10 secondary schools to enter the competition (and complete the race) will get £100 for their school to spend on Sports Equipment. Total £1,000
- The first 5 primary schools to enter the competition (and complete the race) will get £100 for their school to spend on Sports Equipment. Total £500
- The fastest girls and boys primary school team will each get £300 for the team and £200 for the school (to spend on sports equipment) Total £1,000
- The fastest girls and boys secondary school team will each get £600 for the team and £200 for the school (to spend on sports equipment) Total £1,600
- The fastest individual of each age group (both boys and girls) will get £200 each to spend on sports equipment. Total £1,800
When
Heats of the competition will be held in May, with the fastest teams being invited to the final on September 10th as part of the Experian Robin Hood Marathon.
