Please Will You Run For Us - The Official Race Charities
The Experian Robin Hood Marathon has become one of the most prestigious road races in the country and in so doing has raised over £170,000 for the Official Charities in the last 4 years alone.
This letter is to ask for your support. Running a marathon or half marathon is a tremendous undertaking, please will you ask your friends and relatives to recognise the enormity of your challenge by sponsoring you and donating your sponsorship money to the 'Official Charities'.
This year the Official Charities are: Headway the brain injury association is the leading UK charity dedicated to the support of people who have sustained a brain injury, their families and carers. RNLI saves lives at sea. Over 300 people from Nottinghamshire have been rescued by lifeboats in recent years. Lifeboats are crewed by trained volunteers operating in often difficult and sometimes dangerous conditions. They never refuse a call for help any time of the day or night. The National Association of Child Contact Centres gives children of separated families a chance to maintain a relationship with all family members within safe neutral Child Contact Centres based in the heart of the community. Finally, the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund provides a range of services that preserve the quality of life for serving and retired Fire Service personnel and their families.

The Official Charities have organised a host of activities on site to give your supporters something do while you are pounding the pavements. The marshals (some 250 of whom are the charities volunteers) will be there to ensure you a safe race whilst giving you encouragement along the way. As always we are interested to hear from anyone who may like to assist us in this aspect of the race.
